Thank You Ger Hughes
On behalf of the committee, players and parents at Naas AFC we would like to extend our sincere thanks to our Club Secretary, Ger Hughes, who (after more years than we can remember) has decided to fully retire his boots.
Ger has dedicated his years to the development of the club. His tireless contribution to the club has seen him sit on committee, coach and manage numerous teams, look after all club fixtures, player registration and transfers, represent the club while liaising with the FAI, KDUL, DDSL and countless clubs and officials. He has organized fundraisers, club trips, charity games, a host of club events and a whole lot more.
Ger has lived and breathed all things football and has always had the best interest of the players at the heart of everything he did. He would often be heard saying at a committee meeting about the pitches or preparing for bad weather: “Sure we have to do it so that the kids can play football on a Saturday - that’s all that matters”.
Ger has also been the main guy when it comes to the pitches. He oversaw all maintenance on the pitches, rotated them to keep them fresh and looking sharp and he even lined every pitch singlehandedly every week.
Ger was all about the club and the community, always happy to take a call, sort a problem and would always be that guy to get the job done and get the kids on the pitch each and every week.
Ger, while we definitely will struggle to fill those boots you’ve left behind we will be sure to continue on with the great work you have done.
Thank you so much for everything you have done for the club and we look forward to seeing you on the sidelines relaxing and enjoying the football.
