Steelman event
We had 4 athletes competing at Ellerton Lakes Steelman event at the weekend, 2 in the 1/2 Ironman distance triathlons and 2 in half distance Aquabike
The Parnaby both successfully took on the Steelman distance triathlons which is a 2k swim, 57miles on the bike and a 13 mile run !!!!!! There was an issue with some official timings so I’ve put personal times where needed in brackets.
Mark Parnaby, despite being nervous performed brilliantly to finish 7th in his age group, with an overall finishing time of6:32:00, with splits of, Swim41:21, Bike 3:31:40 (3:25:36)PB and Run2:13:03 (2:11:10 PB), as Vicki said, how can you run a PB after a swim and bike ride like that, answer good training !!!!
Vicki Parnaby,, who was worried she would make the cut of time, smashed it, finishing 11th in her age group, with a finishing time of 6:54:21. Her splits were swim, official time 27:23 obviously wrong and affected other times, watch time of 56:59, Bike 3:21:18 (average speed 17 mph, outstanding performance) and Run of 2:36:46. Vicki struggled on the run which isn’t surprising after that ride, but shows the potential still there. Both Mark and Vicki put in amazing performances.
Adam Simpson continued his strong performances in the Aquabike finishing 7th in his age group with a finishing time of 4:02:30. A very strong swim of 39:38 followed by a fast 3:21:16. Bike. Great performance, well done Adam.
And finally, Jim Wilson continued his strong performances in Aquabike, with another 1st place (gold medal.?) in his age group, with splits of swim 37:42 (fast !) and bike 3:43. Jim has been struggling with chest and breathing issues for several years now, but continues to produce great performances, an example and inspiration to us all.
Well done to you all, your a credit to yourselves and doing ATC proud.
