Dorset Community Fund Award

We’re very pleased to share that Poole Gig Rowing Club has been awarded £2,000 from the Dorset Community Fund towards the refurbishment of our Gig Shed. This is a brilliant boost for the project and a clear sign that our plans for a safe, welcoming and functional club space are recognised and supported locally.

The award comes with one condition: that the club develops an Equality and Diversity Policy. I fully support this feedback. As our membership grows and becomes more diverse, this is an important and timely step. An Equality and Diversity Policy sits naturally alongside our Code of Conduct and helps us build the kind of environment we all want, one where everyone feels welcome, respected, and able to achieve.

Being tolerant, understanding of differences, and clear about our shared values strengthens the club culture we’re working hard to protect.

The Volunteer Centre Dorset have produced a short video introducing Equality, Diversity and Inclusion. Please take a moment to watch and reflect, it’s a helpful reminder of why this matters and how small actions make a big difference.
