Girls U16’s - Leamington Lions

We have not played or trained for a while and it showed in th first half. As a team we were just off the pace. Not doing much wrong but not sharp. After ten minutes Leamington broke through our defensive line and slotted home to take the lead. As a team we worked hard but couldn’t create a clear chance. Leamington forced a few corners in succession and eventually scored from one with a fantastic header. 

In the second half we played better but were still not completely firing. We did create more and were more solid at the back. That said Leamington pushed hard and scored a third with a nice move down the right placing the ball into the far corner. Slowly but surely we fought our way into the game. The girls worked hard and the passing became better and chances were now coming. In the 55th minute Izzy got the ball 30 metres from goal and with great trickery beat three players in quick succession and scored from just outside the box. 

Shortly after we had our best move of the game. Scarlett beat a player down our right and cut inside. She passed the ball into the middle for Izzy who immediately played it to Jess who hit a powerful shot but unfortunately it came back off the bar with the keeper well beaten. 

Leamington had another good chance but Evie fantastically pushed it over the bar. The girls continued to push but we could not produce another goal.
