U12 Blacks 25/26 - 4G1
A story of resilience. forward thinking and clinical finishing
Location: Bodington Football Hub, Pitch 2
Quarter 1: Finding Our Feet
The game started at a frantic pace, and we went behind early. Our pressing intensity wasn't quite at its expected level, allowing 4G1 to play through the lines. Their striker managed to find space in the box and finished clinically to put us 0-1 down.
On 15 minutes, we had a let-off; a 4G1 goal was disallowed for offside—a close call that kept us in the hunt. Despite trailing, we dominated possession and finally found the breakthrough in the 18th minute. Fabio intercepted a ball in midfield and fed Kaiden on the right. Kaiden’s powerful strike rattled the crossbar, but Rocco was the sharpest player in the box, pouncing on the rebound to finish low and hard.
Score: 1 - 1
Quarter 2: The Momentum Shifts
The second quarter was a display of growing confidence. While the scoreline remained level, the football was flowing. The highlight was a 39th-minute team move: starting with Munib in defence, the ball moved through Fabio, Ewan, and Max P, before finding Joshua on the right wing. Joshua spotted Rocco’s clever run and threaded a perfect pass; the resulting shot missed by inches, but it was a sign of the dominance to come.
Score: 1 - 1
Quarter 3: Clinical Edge
We exploded into the third quarter. Within three minutes, Fabio intercepted a throw-in and linked up with Joshua. Joshua’s blocked shot fell to Max P, who calmly slotted home with his left foot from six yards out.
Then came a contender for goal of the season. In the 12th minute, Fabio intercepted a pass in his own half and found Joshua in the final third. Max P peeled off his marker to create a passing lane, and Joshua’s weighted ball was perfect. Max struck it first-time from the edge of the area, and the ball flew into the top corner.
4G1 pulled one back late in the quarter with a low drive into the bottom corner, leaving the game poised at 3-2.
Score: 3 - 2
Quarter 4: The floodgates open
The final period was total dominance. Five minutes in, Archie produced a "Maradona-esque" moment of magic. After Fabio forced a misplaced pass, Archie gathered the ball 25 yards out, danced past four defenders, and finished with incredible composure.
The goals didn’t stop there. In the 12th minute, Archie intercepted a throw-in and kept it simple by releasing Joshua down the wing with a pass in behind the left back. Joshua’s cross from the by-line found Fabio on the edge of the box, whose first touch sent the ball high above his head. But he didn't panic, he watched it all the way, kept calm, waited for it to drop, and caught it perfectly on the half-volley, finishing into the bottom right corner.
Two minutes later, Ewan intercepted another throw-in, feeding Rocco in midfield. Rocco showed immense drive and forward thinking, carrying the ball from his own half into the box to finish low into the bottom left.
The rout was completed in the 19th minute: Fabio won another 1v1 battle in midfield and played in Joshua. After assisting three goals already, Joshua got the goal he deserved, losing his defender, rounding the keeper and sliding the ball into the empty net.
Score: 7 - 2

Coach’s View
"It was great to see the team build on the positives from last week's performance. Despite going behind early again, we showed fantastic resilience and a positive, forward-thinking attitude.
I thought player of the match Fabio led by example in midfield—his work rate and simplicity on the ball spread throughout the team.
In the end, 4G1 simply couldn't match our energy or quality. A superb team performance with a generous sprinkling of individual magic.
Next Match is AC1 away – Let’s keep this momentum going!"
