This Saturday Night saw our fierce rivals from Grimsby come for a late night battle on the slippery stuff. Always a tough , physical affair . And this one did not dissapoint. 10 o clock on a Saturday Night and the two are ready for the puck drop. A nervy start from both teams saw the 1st 5 mins go by without incident. Then Grimsby pushing through number 23 Jay Wardle needed to be stopped, and was through the foul play of number 87 Joe Bolton with a slash . That saw the Fat Dads down to 4 men . Then a solitary bit of brilliance from the one and only Tomas Juriga (24) saw the fatties up by 1 with a stunning short hand goal.
Grimsby undettered came straight back with a great solo goal by Wardle (23) . Looking very dangerous the star man from Grimsby had to be dealt with .
Some changes from coach Corbett saw the fatties settle . Grimsby looking to have an edge scored again through number 66 assisted by 22 with the fatties nettie obstructed by the clumsy play of Gladstone (55) . The big D man has to rectify that mistake .
Gladstone fuming after his calamity , was a man possessed. And with a fierce shot from the blue line (which was heading in) only to be tipped in by a waiting Tomas (24) stealing his glory in a Vinnie like fashion , saw the game level .
Grimsby came at the Fatties again and again finally getting their reward beating the fatties nettie with an unstoppable bar down from number 90, just before the end of the 1st .

A great 1st period by both teams, with Grimsby having the lead. And number 23 causing devastation ruling the roost . The fatties need to stop him if they are to get anything out of this game . The second period starts and the fatties secret weapon (Grey 10) his mouth working harder than his legs . With his constant chirping was starting to take affect on the Grimsby star man .
With Wardle and Grimsby trying to force the game . They started to loose the confidence to beat the Fat Dad man between the pipes . After a barrage of shots were denied by the cat like nettie Gladstone (30). Then a fatties team building momentum were rewarded with a sublime wrist shot by Grey (10) . And a fantastic goal by the dreamboat Tony Purvis (86).
The whole Fat Dads team were firing now and goals coming from all over the ice , saw a great strike from Gladstone (55) more than make up for his earlier mistake .
And 3 quick fire goals from Tomas (24) two of which assisted by Kaspars (15) with some of the finest passes seen north of the river .
With Grimsby managing to score a solitary goal in the 2nd the score was now 8-4 to the Dads .

Going into the 3rd this was the Fat Dads game to loose .
But this didn't deter them , the Fatties came at Grimsby with the same intensity as the 2nd . With a quick breakaway goal from our tenacious tangerine Morgan Beard (22) . Gray's (10) constant chirps were really affecting Grimsby now . And he was about to face the wrath of the Grimsby enforcer number 80 (Bugg) . With a swat to his jaw (which had already had one hell of a workout. ) Dazed and confused. Grey smiled instead of fighting back . Both players were sent to the penalty box . Another goal created for the Fatties, by the man running the left wing all night Irvins (78) with a sweet pass to the waiting Beard (22) . A consolation goal came next for Grimsby scored by the former Fat Dad Ross Smith, with a rare mistake by the Fatties nettie . Almost as though Gladstone (30) felt sorry for the cabbie from across the bridge and let it in . A final glorious goal from Tony Purvis (86) finished what was a fabulous evening for the Fatties who were back to their best .
An 11-5 victory to the Fat dads against their biggest rivals , what a way to spend a Saturday night.
