A Vital Call to Support Trafford Handball Club
Dear Members and Parents of Trafford Handball Club,
I am writing to you openly and honestly as part of our Trafford Handball Club community.
At present, the club is facing a serious financial challenge. This is not a message we take lightly, and it is not one we would send unless it was genuinely necessary.
Over recent months, the club has continued to grow in participation, teams, coaching provision, and competitive opportunities. However, the financial reality of sustaining this level of activity has now reached a critical point. Despite our best efforts and initiatives to continue the club’s existence, our current income is no longer sufficient to cover the essential costs required to keep the club operating at the standard we expect and our players deserve.
We want to be clear: this is not about poor management or leaving things too late. Trafford Handball Club operates in a sport that receives very limited external funding. With a large number of teams ranging from youth to senior level, completing and maintaining a fully active pathway in a sport like ours is an incredibly difficult task. Sustaining this structure for as long as we have is, in itself, a significant achievement.
The reality is that managing a club of our size and stature is a tough challenge for any organisation across the country. With great potential comes significant difficulty in continuing to thrive. We would not be asking for support unless it was absolutely necessary to protect the future and long-term vision of the club.
We are therefore asking members, parents, and supporters to consider whether they are able to help - in whatever way they realistically can.
Support does not only mean direct financial contributions (though these would of course make an immediate impact). We are equally seeking:
- Sponsorship opportunities through businesses, employers, or contacts
- Fundraising ideas or leadership from those willing to help organise initiatives
- Guidance or expertise in funding applications, grants, or community funding routes
- Introductions or connections to organisations that may be willing to support grassroots or charitable sport
- One-off or ongoing donations, where individuals have the disposable income and wish to contribute
We understand that not everyone is in a position to give financially, and there is absolutely no expectation or pressure placed on anyone. However, if you are able to step forward - either directly or by helping us find the right opportunities, your support could make a real difference.
Trafford Handball Club exists because of the people within it. It has been built through shared effort, commitment, and belief in what the club provides for young people and adults alike. This is a moment where we must ask the community to help ensure that what we have built can continue.
