Club Volunteer Referee Guidance
Across Surrey, there is a large network of coaches and parents/carers that facilitate matches in games where an official referee isn’t appointed. These club volunteer referees are vital that grassroots football can continue, and to support them, Surrey FA have produced a video highlighting the key responsibilities and basic refereeing knowledge required.
Key areas highlighted are as follows:
How to ensure football is a safe and fun environment for all
How to prepare the playing surface
Format and law guidance
Guidance on retreat lines, sin bins and powerplay
How to deal with spectator behaviours
How to handle discipline and the correct process to report cases

Thank you to all those parents that volunteer for this vital role to keep the children playing football!
Best,
Dan
