U11 Orange - Punjab Athletic

After a scrappy opening few minutes the Brakes started to get on top, Oscar and Teddy winning the midfield battles, consistently fed our wingers, Finlay and Seb who were a real threat.
Fin G up front ran the channel well and it was from a good run down the right where he put in a great cross and assist for Seb to score with a composed finish 👏
With our tails up, the Brakes continued to push forward, built from good play at the back from Harry, Lev and Sam. Seb continued his threatening runs down the left and was unlucky not to add a 2nd goal with the Punjab keeper making some good saves.
We made substitutions at 20 minutes and Carmello got in behind their defenders a number of times and was unlucky not to score seeing a great effort coming back off the cross bar.
All in all a superb effort in the 1st half from everyone.
Punjab Athletic made some tactical changes at half time and stepped up the intensity and started to take control of the game through the midfield. The pressure soon started to show as they hit back with a couple of quick goals. Freddie was unlucky not to keep a couple of their goals out, but made some good saves to keep score down.
We made changes with 20 minutes to go, Oscar coming back on to add strength in the midfield, Harry came on down the left, showed a lot of determination getting up and down the pitch and Fin slotted into defence.
Punjab scored 3 more to win the game 5-1.
The lads finished well to take the penalty shootout 5-3, scoring all our penalties 👌
Plenty to be proud of after a brilliant first half performance, some things to build on, but the lads should keep their heads up and go again next week 👊
Special mentions:
Finlay ran is socks off again, covering so much of the pitch and playing with intensity down the right wing, as he has done in every game so far this season.
Lev was good at the back again playing his central defensive role well stepping out to tackle and cover.
Oleg battled hard in midfield and connected well with our forward players
Player of the match goes to Seb for his constant runs down the left wing and never giving up, he scored a good goal and was really unlucky not to get another
🙌 💛🖤
