Sallins 0 – 5 Naas

Five-Star Naas Shine in the Sallins Sunshine!

A warm and sunny morning in Sallins provided the perfect setting for another impressive performance from the Naas lads, who ran out convincing 5-0 winners following a display full of energy, quality football and some excellent finishing.

The opening exchanges were tight, with both sides battling for control and neither giving much away. However, it wasn't long before Naas began to find their rhythm, moving the ball sharply and looking dangerous whenever they ventured forward.

15 minutes – 0-1

The breakthrough came courtesy of some excellent close control from Sheasy, who turned brilliantly in a tight space before driving the ball across the six-yard box. Oscar Ross was perfectly positioned to apply the simplest of finishes and give Naas a deserved lead.

On 24 minutes, a lovely piece of work from Charlie released Oscar once again, but this time his low drive cannoned off the bottom of the post. A whisker away from doubling his tally!

Tighe was next to threaten on 31 minutes, dancing his way through the Sallins defence with some wonderful footwork before getting his shot away. Unfortunately, his effort sailed over the bar, but the move certainly deserved a goal.

33 minutes – 0-2

Naas doubled their advantage when Ryan decided to try his luck from outside the 18-yard box. His speculative effort looked comfortable enough for the keeper, but the ball was spilled and somehow dribbled over the line.

Not one for the goalkeeping highlights reel, but they all count! As the saying goes, if you don't have a go, you'll never know!

Naas weren't finished there, and some excellent attacking football produced the third goal of the half. A lovely pass down the wing from Tighe released Ryan, who showed great pace to get behind his marker before delivering a clever reverse pass towards the penalty spot. Sheasy was waiting and made absolutely no mistake, drilling the ball into the bottom corner and giving the keeper no chance.

Half-time: Sallins 0 – 3 Naas

With a commanding lead at the break, the challenge for Naas was to maintain their intensity and continue playing the football that had caused Sallins so many problems.

And that's exactly what they did.

50 minutes – 0-4

A throw-in from Woodie released Luke, who played a neat ball into Ryan's path. Ryan showed great composure to take the ball around the final defender before calmly slotting home from eight yards. A beautifully worked goal, combining quick thinking, movement and a clinical finish.

65 minutes – 0-5

The final goal of the morning came from Noah, who picked up possession a full 25 yards from goal and decided to unleash an absolute thunderbolt. The effort was straight at the keeper, but the sheer power of the strike proved too much to handle as the ball flew into the back of the net. Sometimes there's simply no stopping them!

Full-time: Sallins 0 – 5 Naas

This was another really solid all-round performance from the Naas lads. Sharp passing, intelligent movement, quick running and a willingness to shoot from distance were all on display. The variety in their attacking play, mixing balls in behind the defensive line with clever combinations and shots from outside the box, kept Sallins guessing throughout.

Just as pleasing was another clean sheet, reflecting a disciplined and hardworking defensive display. The lads remained organised, battled for every ball and ensured that Sallins were given very little opportunity to find a way back into the game.

Perhaps one of the most satisfying moments of the morning came after the final whistle, when the Sallins coach complimented the Naas lads on their performance. He remarked on just how excellent they had been and how difficult they were to play against, particularly because of their willingness to keep battling and competing throughout the game.

It's always nice to hear praise from the opposition, and it was especially encouraging because it reflects exactly what the lads have been working on in training each week.

The movement, passing, work rate and determination are beginning to come together, and the improvements are becoming increasingly evident on match days.

There's still plenty to learn and areas to improve, as there always will be, but the lads are certainly heading in the right direction.

Five goals, five different moments of quality, another clean sheet and a fantastic team effort from start to finish.

Well done, lads. Keep working hard, keep learning and, most importantly, keep enjoying your football!
