U10 Calcio Talent & Select - First Touch FC Black

A very good performance from the boys today saw us beat a much improved (different manager and significantly better players for the most part...) First Touch FC Black 4-3.

We picked up where we left off with our excellent out of possession play, executing high up the pitch with Freddie's relentless press and a determined midfield to win back the ball in the opponent's half, time and time again. The opposition were better out of possession this week, marking up well and competing in duels. A to-and-fro first period ended 2-1 to them as they found a way to take their chances more clinically than we could.

An emphasis on creating width and depth for the second period meant we had a lot more space to work in through the middle. This allowed us a dominant period but we only added one more goal, ending the period at 2-2.

An entertaining final third saw every single Calcio player contribute, with two more goals for us and one for them. A MoM performance by Austin in goal who pulled off some outstanding saves in 1v1 scenarios keeping us in it at times and protecting our fragile lead towards the end. Special mention for Freddie who could have easily been awarded MoM as he scored two goals and importantly turned provider twice.

Seeding continues next week with a game against Altofts, a team who came second in the first division last phase. A match we can certainly win if we repeat todays battling performance!
