U16 Calcio Talent and Select - Guiseley AFC U16

A very difficult start to the game due to a number of reasons, meant that the team have to really adapt to the game. Before the game we spoke about having to defend excellently to prevent the opposition getting shots and crosses in. Despite conceding in the first quarter, I felt we were always competitive and in the game. After a good piece of skill from Finn and an awkward shot for the GK to deal with, Jake tapped in the rebound, with good positioning.

The rest of the game was fairly scrappy, with loads of good pieces of defending being shown from our players. Players playing out of position did excellent and showed their versatility which is so important for the long season.

Jack stepped up fantastically in goal and made some crucial bits of goalkeeping, his handling was really important for us as he managed to claim a lot of their dangerous crosses into the box.

Defensively everyone did their jobs really well on Saturday, our midfielders were really aggressive and dominated the midfield out of possession, our defenders were really solid and dealt with every ball that was played into them.

Overall, drawing against top of the league with the circumstances we were found with, is a testament to the lads!

Now it is about showing the same competitiveness and adding more quality in possession.
