A brilliant performance from the team today, as we secured a convincing 13–4 victory against a strong opposition. While the scoreline reflects our attacking quality, what made this result particularly satisfying was the players’ attitude, maturity, and willingness to work together under different circumstances.
Before the match, our opponents were unable to field seven players, and we agreed to play 6v6. This was an opportunity to demonstrate something far more important than footballing ability: character. The players showed compassion, courage, and excellent sportsmanship, accepting the challenge without complaints or arguments. Their response made me extremely proud, reinforcing the values we continue to develop as a team.
On the pitch, we produced some excellent football. Our decision-making continues to improve, with better awareness of when to pass, when to shoot, and how to make the right decisions at the right moments. We moved the ball well, maintained possession, won most of our individual battles, and created plenty of opportunities to score. Our ability to convert these opportunities into goals was another positive aspect of an impressive attacking display.
Defensively, although we conceded four goals and made a few mistakes, there were circumstances worth considering. We had only one centre-back available, while Elia stepped into an unfamiliar position and fulfilled his responsibilities brilliantly. His willingness to adapt and contribute to the team deserves special recognition. These situations are valuable learning opportunities, and we will continue to work on our defensive organisation and decision-making.
Perhaps the most encouraging aspect of today's performance was the collective responsibility shown by every player. Despite missing some teammates, everyone stepped up when needed and demonstrated that each individual has an important role to play. This is what makes a team stronger: players supporting one another, accepting responsibility, and working towards a common goal.
As a coach, I am increasingly impressed not only by the players’ development on the pitch but also by their character, behaviour, and maturity. Even at this young age, they are learning to approach the game with professionalism, discipline, and a genuine desire to compete. These qualities are just as important as the results we achieve.
Finally, a big thank you to all the parents for their continued support. It is always a pleasure to see you attending our matches and training sessions, encouraging the players and supporting their development.
A well-deserved 13–4 victory, but an even bigger win in terms of character, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
