EFA Jaguars vs Sydenham Park Rangers U11 Eagles
Hello everyone,
Great win today, everyone! A convincing 5–1 victory against a good team. We started strongly, took the initiative and controlled most of the game, creating plenty of attacking opportunities and showing our quality going forward.
With our main centre-backs unavailable, Kien and Elia stepped up brilliantly, providing great stability at the back alongside Leon, who also had an excellent game. Despite the changes, everyone adapted to their positions and took responsibility for the team. Although we conceded from a free kick, which we need to defend better, our overall defensive performance was very positive.
Going forward, we generally had the upper hand and dominated our individual duels. It was also our first time facing a team playing with three defenders at the back, so it took us some time to understand how to stretch them and exploit the available spaces. As the game progressed, we adapted well and found better ways to break them down.
I would still like to see quicker decision-making and more fluidity in possession, particularly when switching play from one side to the other. Our aim is to move the ball with two or three touches whenever possible. Of course, this becomes more difficult when opponents mark us closely, but recognising when to play quickly and when to retain possession is an important part of our development. We will continue working on this in training.
There were some fantastic individual performances, too. Michael showed great determination against several defenders and scored important goals, while Amir and Elia also made valuable contributions in attack. Most importantly, everyone worked hard and contributed to another well-deserved victory.
What pleased me most was seeing our continued progress. Our communication, maturity and aggression in duels are improving, allowing us to compete more effectively and take control of matches. Despite missing several players, we showed great adaptability, commitment and team spirit. There is still plenty to improve, but we are moving in the right direction.
Very proud of everyone's hard work, commitment and behaviour. We played good football, scored five goals, secured a great win and enjoyed the match together. Well done, everyone!
Finally, a big thank you to all the parents for your continued support and effort. I hope you are as proud of the players as I am!
Your coach,
Antonio
