Boys U15 (2011) Major 2 Blue - Kill Celtic
The unbeaten run continues with a 1:0 win against our main rival, Kill Celtic, in a classic battle between two great teams.
Kerdiffstown is cold at the best of time and with heavy rain and a cold cross wind the condition were not good for the flood lit kick off 40 minutes late! However both teams didn’t let the weather or late time affect them with our lads starting off with pressure from the first minute!
It was only 3 minutes in before Zsombor hit the target resulting in the save from the Kill keeper, one of many he would have to make. 5 minutes later, with the pressure continuing, Niko delivered a great shot from our first corner, with Senans connection resulting in our second corner. Freddie delivered a great ball in, but unfortunately resulted in a goal kick. But brilliant play from the lads! For the next 10 minutes both teams gave nothing away and it took a right wing assault from our lads that resulted in 5 throw-ins one after another with us making consistent ground, and then a great run-in by Zsombor and Senan that gave us another corner. The corner was well taken by Niko but clearer by Kill. Brilliant pressure from our lads! @22minutes Zsombor was unlucky not to score with his shot just wide! Down the other end Kill had their first shot on target with a great save by Sam, one of many on the day! The half finished 0:0, but both teams putting in a fantastic performance, with our lads just having the edge on Kill.
The second half kicked off with no substitutions, with two corners to Kill within 5 minutes, the first dealt with well by Scott and the second just resulting in a goal kick. A minute later and the pressure was again on Kill with a corner kick by Freddie delivered well but just no one could get onto it! Four minutes later we were back inflicting pressure on Kill and the result a corner. A brilliant corner taken by Harry, that should have gone straight in had one of the Kill players not saved it with a handball. The poor lad receiving a red card, and a penalty for us. Taken well by Niko we go 1:0!
5 minutes later The number 8 for Kill took a brilliant free kick, curling it in to Sam’s goal which he saves brilliantly! Immediately followed by a second save by Sam, keeping us in the lead! Down the other end the lads continued the pressure, a free kick from Senan just over! Then a third save the other end by Sam! Back with us and 2 well taken corner kicks by Freddie just couldn’t find the goal! With two substitutes made for us, the final 10 minutes was all Naas pressure, with a Niko free kick just over and a shot from Scott saved by the keeper. The match ended 1:0.
The team today put in a championship winning performance, against a very good side that we drew 3:3 with only a couple of weeks ago. The lads taking direction and following the agreed plan, each and every player, playing their role brilliantly. As coaches we couldn’t be prouder or ask for more! 11 games unbeaten, with 3 to go!!

To the substitutes that didn’t get to play, we thank you. As a coaching group we explained the game plan last Thursday and we know it is hard to accept, even when you know why. We did not make that call easily, and the first time we have done so this season. Next week you all start the match!
Next week is a 2pm kick off against Monasterevin, at home.
