Boys U15 (2012) Major 1 - Kilcullen AFC
Saturday 26th September
A windswept afternoon in Kilcullen brought about the proverbial game of 2 half’s . It’s never been ideal to be playing a team two weeks on the trot but that was the task we faced. The opening 10 minutes were slow and playing into the wind caused us to leave passes short and Kilcullen took a deserved lead on 15 minutes off a through ball and they doubled it with two minutes remaining in the half when the clearance from the corner was pinged back into the top corner. The second half saw a completely different team takes to the field, the passing and movement were much quicker and this led to a free kick two minutes in when Fionn Nolan was brought down 20 yards out. Frank stepped up to curve a lovely shot over the wall into the top corner. Kilcullen had an attack straight from the kickoff but Noah made a good save after Dylan had put the attacker under pressure. 15 minutes in and Louie collected the ball in the centre circle and drove over to Kilkullen defence. He beat two players before smashing a shot goalwards only to see it smack off the crossbar and down onto the line, whilst some appealed for a goal Fionn Leonard Finnegan done what all good strikers do and followed it up and beat the keeper to the dropping ball to head us level. Fionn Nolan next had a shot well saved after being put through by Antoni but with 10 minutes left we took the lead when Louie again ran at the Kilcullen defence from midfield and this time finding the back of the net from 25 yards out. We still had time for Frank to put the icing on a great comeback when Harry found him inside the area and he slotted his home. Two wins on the bounce but we will need to improve our first half performances. Players of the match were Frank and Louie
