Boys U15 (2012) Major 1 - Kilcock Celtic
After the disappointment of defeat 2 weeks ago we looked to bounce back against a free scoring Kilcock team. We started well and created the first chance of the game when Frank sent Fionn Leonard Finnegan through but his shot was well saved. Noah was then called into action in the Naas goal when he saved well from a direct free kick. 10 mins in produced our best move of the opening exchanges when Frank beat 2 players before finding Louie whose first time pass into Fionn enabled him to feed the ball into Harry’s path. Harry took a touch and hit a low shot that was heading for the bottom corner but a defender managed to get a toe to it and deflect it wide. Luke took the resulting corner and his centre beat everyone and found the back of the net. The lead didn’t last long though and Kilcock were back on level terms when a sharp shot from the edge of the box took a deflection, Noah got a strong hand to it but was unable to prevent it going in. Naas regained the lead on 20 mins with another good move, Jayden beat a couple of players before playing a great cross field ball to Harry who spotted Luke’s run and fed the ball into his path, Luke cut inside and laid the ball into Louie’s path on the edge of the area who fired in. 2-1 became 3-1 a minute later when a Kilcock defender was penalised for handball 25 yards out and Luke stepped up to hit the back of the net via the underside of the crossbar. In the 28th minute Ben collected the ball into his path the right back position and found Harry who beat his marker and sent an early ball over the top of the Kilcock defence for Frank to run onto but his shot was saved. Luke sent the corner to the far post where Jayden brought it down and fed Louie 6 yards out and he made it 4-1.
The second half started with us on the back foot and Kilcock made their pressure count with a good goal that gave Noah no chance. Frank restored our 3 goal lead with a neat shot inside the area after good work from Davin and Luke. Credit to Kilcock as they didn’t give up and had a 10 min spell where we had to dig deep, first Luke headed of the line and then Noah was called upon to make a great double save after Kilcock were awarded a penalty. Then came a big turning point as good work from the Kilcock centre forward created space for a shot but Ezekiel came across to make a great block and when the ball went out to Harry he played a great ball up the line to Luke who collected the ball and crossed the ball beyond the defenders and into the on rushing Davin who took a touch, dragged the ball back from a defender and smashed the ball beyond the keeper. Luke then completed the scoring and his hat-trick with 8 mins left when Fionn Nolan played him in to find the bottom corner to round off a great team performance. Player of the Match Luke Hickey
