Boys U13 (2013) Premier - Castle Villa
After the great performance on Saturday in the Cup Final, bringing Kill Celtic to the brink but not getting the reward, it was difficult for the lads to get themselves back to the same levels. With injuries to 5 of the squad we had to call on some help from the 2014 Premier team.
Castle Villa have been pushing for the title all season and have built that charge on a very direct style lead by their giant goalkeeper with his giant boot. Every opportunity they get they boot the ball as far and high as possible which makes for a busy day aerially for our defenders.
After just 10 minutes the referee gave the away side a penalty for a dubious handball that Kian Shanaghy was certain had come off his chest. It was exactly the start we didn’t need. On the twenty minute mark Villa broke down the Naas left and crossed the ball for the striker to finish.
2-0 at HT and really aside from the long balls Villa hadn’t really had many other chances. Naas tried to keep playing their passing game and with some better finishing in both halves had more chances to score but will feel it’s another game where the scoreline doesn’t really tell the story.
With 1 more game next week against Monasterevin to bring the curtain down on the 25/26 season Naas will be hoping to end with a victory that should secure 4th place. We hope to add to the squad in the summer and next season take more of the chances we create to get closer to challenging for the league.
Big thanks to Arthur Dunne, Mason Bray and Steven Zhang from the 2014s who came to help the lads.
