U12 Orange - Soccer Rockz
Leamington Brakes started the game well with some good possession and passing.
Soccer Rockz made the most of one of their first attacks, latching onto a clearance to hit the ball over William and into the net. This gave the hosts more confidence and they nearly scored again when a looping shot looked to be going in but William made a stunning save, somehow clawing the ball away from the top corner and getting up off the ground to put the ball behind for a corner. The Brakes seemed to gain belief from this and were soon on the front foot, winning a corner. Sam whipped in a superb in-swinging delivery which Oleg steered into the back of the net to make it 1-1.
Into the 2nd half and the brakes began to get on top in the game winning the midfield battle and making progress down the wings through Seb and Harry. Oleg soon latched onto a poor Soccer Rock clearance to put us 2-1 up. William continued to dominate his penalty area and made a number of good saves to keep us in the lead. Late on, Bledi hit a superb free kick that came back off the bar, Harry pounced on the rebound to set up Noah for our 3rd goal. With the Brakes well on top, Oleg nearly completed a hat trick, but his low effort came back off the post.
3-1 final score.
Special mentions:
Jude; fantastic in defence alongside Bledi and Lev today, snuffing out any danger đź‘Š
Sam did well up front with good hold up play and finding his passes to our other forward players đź’Ş
Values trophy goes to Oleg for his determination to get forward, scored 2 goals and made some good passes đź‘Ź
POTM goes to William who was immense in goal today and pulled off one of the best double saves I’ve seen at youth level. He commanded his penalty area all game, we’re so grateful to have you as our number 1 🙌
Overall Tom and I were really proud of the effort all the lads put in to overcome the early setback, they really deserved the win and it was great to get the 3 points after the narrow defeats in our last couple of matches 💛🖤
