What a way to start the season! 🤩⚽️

Spurley Hey Clarets 2–9 Hazel Grove United Jets

A really early start today, and usually it takes us 10 minutes or so to get going in these early games. Not today! We were at it from the get-go, and the lads put in a massive shift from start to finish.

With no subs available either, it makes the performance even more impressive. A brilliant first match back! 👏🏻

George Oates🧤

Not one of his busier days, but still another really strong performance from George, making 2 or 3 impressive saves when called upon. He’s come on leaps and bounds with his distribution, and today that was a real asset for us.

He topped off a great display with a 10-minute cameo out of goal and even managed to score himself a good goal! 👏🏻

Lucas 🙌🏼

Really good again today. Lucas played in 2–3 different positions and was solid in every one of them. Another really intelligent performance, always making good decisions and contributing wherever he was needed.

Rory👌

Again, Rory had to play in multiple positions — even in goal at one stage (forgot he had arms for a minute! 😅🤣).

A really infectious and energetic performance from Rory. He won every 50/50, worked tirelessly and backed it all up with great quality in possession. He also managed to get himself a well-deserved goal.

Ols😮‍💨

Another really busy performance from Ols, who was a real nuisance for Spurley today. He was constantly breaking up play, covering huge amounts of ground and making life difficult for the opposition.

He looked a little tired going into the final 10 minutes, so we pushed him up front — and Ols came back alive! 😂 He found another gear and started going on Messi-like runs, driving straight at the defence.

One of those runs paid off as he took it around the keeper and finished brilliantly.

George Voss👊🏻

A new position for George in the first half, playing at the back on his own, and he did really, really well

He stayed concentrated, got lots of touches on the ball and played some brilliant passes down the line to beat the Spurley press.

He moved further forward later on and continued his solid performance, topping it off by getting himself on the scoresheet with a tidy finish at the back post.

Louie — ⭐️ PLAYER OF THE MATCH ⭐️

Star man today!🤩

A pressing monster from minute one and rewarded with 5 goals all different types of finishes. But it wasn’t just the goals that impressed me today.

His running back the other way and willingness to help his teammates out was just as impressive. A really top all-round performance from Louie.

A well-deserved Player of the Match and as a reward for his performance, Louie has also earned himself the captain’s armband for the next match🫡

Superstar today, Louie! 🤩⭐️

A fantastic way to start the season. The lads worked incredibly hard, supported each other and showed some really good football along the way.
