Despite the rough start, Leam Brakes found themselves further behind as Rugby Borough's relentless pressure saw them score two more, leading 3-0 halfway through the first half.
In a remarkable turn of events, Oleg's tenacity paid off when he snatched the ball high up the pitch and crafted his own opportunity, putting Leam Brakes on the scoreboard with a well-taken goal This shifted the dynamic of the game. A timely substitution saw Sam introduced, and he made an instant impact by finding Camello with his very first touch. Displaying incredible agility, Camello used his pace on Rugby Borough's high line and scored, narrowing the gap to 3-2. This marked a pivotal turning point, injecting new energy and belief into the Brakes.
As the first half concluded and the teams regrouped, Leam Brakes emerged from the break with renewed vigour. Subs made, Leam brakes pick up right where they left off. Camello, not satisfied with one goal, struck again, levelling the score at 3-3. From that moment, the Brakes found their rhythm, dominating the midfield battles and showing improved passing.
With the momentum firmly on their side, Oleg delivered a good through ball to Fin G. Demonstrating remarkable strength and composure, Fin G kept his defender at bay and slotted the ball home, putting Leam Brakes ahead for the first time in the match at 4-3.
The lead was short-lived, however, as Rugby Borough responded swiftly to equalize at 4-4. Yet, the Brakes were undeterred. Camello completed his hat-trick, restoring the lead and driving his side's charge forward. When Rugby Borough launched another offensive, Teddy stood tall with a crucial save to keep their momentum in check.
Ultimately, it was Fin G who had the final say, curling the ball directly from a corner sealing an exhilarating 6-4 win for Leam Brakes.
