U10 Green Home vs Clane Utd

The U10 Green team played out another epic in their Prem division match against Clane. A game played in great spirit by both teams served up a goal-fest, which makes life difficult for those writing the match reports!

The game was only a couple of minutes old when a quick attack by Naas led to Mikolaj playing a perfect ball to Faniel to put the home side 1-0 up. From there, the game was a very even contest with both teams creating chances and coming close. A Clane corner dropped into the box deflected off the strikers back bringing Clane level at 1-1.

From there Naas took a firm hold of the game and started to pass the ball really well. It wasn't long before Faniel but Naas 2-1 up, and he quickly followed up with his hat-trick to make it 3-1. The home team kept the pressure on, with Gavish and Cody working hard in midfield. With another dominant performance, Sean pushed forward to grab another goal to make it 4-1.

To their credit, Clane heads didn't drop and they fought back well. They soon made it 4-2, and within the blink of an eye, a good counter attack made it 4-3. The sideline called for a reaction, and we got it. Gavish picked up the ball in midfield to play in Faniel to score his fourth and make it 5-3. Another corner brought another goal for Clane to make it 5-4.

If that wasn't enough, with two mins to go, a Clane shot was well saved by Alex in the Naas goal. The loose ball was picked up by Clane with the shot bravely blocked by Vlad. What followed a scramble for the ages with Shuayb, Ben, and Alex throwing themselves in front of the ball to block every shot. Half time. Breathe.

The second half didn't provide as much excitement, but definitely more quality. Naas enjoyed good phases on possession with quality passing and ball control. Michael started to make great runs from the back, with Cody and Sean controlling the midfield.

With Naas winning a corner, Ben came up from the back to pounce on a loose ball to make it 6-4. From there Clane threw everything forward. Shuayb, Michael and Vlad continued to defend well, but couldn't prevent Clane scoring to make it 6-5. The game didn't lend itself to sitting back on a slender lead, and Mikolaj, Sean and Faniel continued to fire shots at the Clane goal. Unfortunately a late attack saw Clane make it 6-6.

Whilst it looked like either team could grab a winner, this game didn't deserve a loser. The full time whistle brought sighs of relief, with both teams happy and proud of their performance. One more game next week before the players can enjoy a mid-season break. I need a lie down!!
