U11 Blacks 26/27 - MLFA
The UFCA U11 Blacks battled hard but ultimately came away on the wrong side of the result this weekend.
There were plenty of positives to take from the game, with the team showing character and continuing to compete right until the final whistle. We created good opportunities and scored four goals, showing that we can cause problems when we play our football and move the ball with confidence.
Unfortunately, the opposition's long balls and quick counter-attacks caused us real problems throughout the match. We struggled at times to deal with balls played over or through us, and when possession was lost, the opposition were quick to break forward and punish us.
It's an area we'll work on in training, particularly our positioning, communication and reaction when we lose possession. There is plenty for the players to learn from the game, and these are exactly the experiences that help young players develop.
Despite the result, the boys kept going and showed great spirit. We know what we need to improve, and we'll come back stronger.
