U9 Calcio Talent and Select - First Touch Blue U9

We were beaten by a good First Touch side who combined well and played very direct with long balls. Although the individual quality was matched, their team play and speed of decision-making were stronger on the day. We conceded a couple of soft goals from slow reactions in defensive transitions and poor choices on the ball, but the players recognised this, learnt from it and improved on this during the game.

I thought we showed good bravery on the ball playing out from the back and when we did combine well as a team in moments it looked great. We also created some great chances and could have scored more.

The focus now is on developing quicker reactions in transition when we lose the ball, sharper collective decision-making, and building stronger team play to match our technical ability. See you all next week!
