Boys U12 (2014) Red - Kilcock Celtic (2014) M2
The lads took on Kilcock Celtic in a final pre season friendly due to both teams being idle on the first weekend of the new league season.
Naas played into the strong wind in the first half and started well with Eoin and Geo getting plenty of action out on the wings. At the back, Sam did an excellent job calling the line while Matthew & John were like Dixon and Winterburn reborn!
Despite some promising play, Naas failed to take their chances and were eventually caught out mid way through the first half when a through ball caught out the back line and the striker gave Conall no chance in the goal.
Naas ate up the pressure for the remainder of the first half, riding our luck at times, but Kilcock stayed ahead at the break.
Second half saw a new look team & formation take to the field with a strong wind behind them! Credit to Kilcock, they also came out strong and put the lads under pressure from the outset. Eventually this pressure paid off with Kilcock extending their lead to 2-0 following a mix up at the back!
From that point, the game was all Naas - the lads dug in and played their hearts out in an effort to get back into the game. This pressure led to a corner on the far side which Geo swung into the box for Matthew to heard/arse/elbow into the goal. 2-1 …. Game on!
Naas continued to attack and attack for the remainder of the game with Captain Murilo, Logan, Adi and Geo all creating chances. Alas, the Kilcock goalie had had his Weetabix and the lads couldnt find an equaliser by the end.
While the end result was not what we might have wanted, there were plenty of positives to take from the game and all the players got valuable minutes into their legs ahead of next week’s league opener vs Clane.
