U11 Cougars - Walton & Hersham Youth Swans
Whilst it took us a few minutes to get into our stride, once we got the first goal and settled the team grew in confidence and played superbly. Dylan starting to impose himself in the game with his runs and the first two goals were as a result of his quality and unselfishness setting up Louie White who executed two fantastic finishes - calm, composed and focused on a good connection. 0-2 within 6 mins.
By the end of the 1st qtr it was 0-4 and the team were playing with so much confidence from back to front. Dylan with a well taken and well deserved goal after an excellent corner from Jake Lewis and Rory White with a stunning strike from outside the box after setting himself with a good touch when the ball came out the box and hitting a shot into the top right of the goal. 0-4
The 2nd quarter got under way and one player who had caught the eye with his marshalling of the defence and recoveries was Oscar, sweeping any threat that W&H posed and then having the composure to pass or drive the team forward with some excellent runs deep into the W&H half. He was enjoying himself and it got better when he found himself in the box on the end of more great work from Dylan with a nice finish from a ball into the corridor of uncertainty. 0-5
a minute later Cougars went 0-6 up this time after some excellent work from Louie in the Walton 3rd and getting his head up to find Dylan for another nice finish.
W&H brought on an extra player to make it 7 v 8 and that's how it stayed after we went 0-7 up with another goal from Oscar following good work from Jake Lewis down the right hand side. Jake caused all sorts of problems for Walton on the right side of midfield and his engine was running on a full tank!
Walton did get some joy with two goals with putting numbers intot he box, which they could do easier given the extra man, but any sign of a comeback was short lived when Oscar completed his hattrick with a lovely finish after good work winning the ball in midfield by Louie who slotted Oscar in perfectly.
A perfect afternoon was rounded off when another assist from Jake Lewis found Johann in the box, who had a lot to do to control a quick ball, but the touch was perfect and Johann poked the ball home under the outcoming keeper. Well deserved after lots of hard work whilst not feeling 100%
Great team win and lots of big individual performances.
