2 Day White Water Safety Course
Hi All,
The Club has been offered an opportunity from a Coach named Ian Adey of Kinetic Paddlesports for a 2 Day White Water Safety Course
The course will cost £800 and is for a maximum of 6 people. So, if we can get 6 people signed up it works out at a bargain price of £134 each.
The objective of the course is to provide the underpinning knowledge and teach simple and safe practical skills that can be applied appropriately.
By its nature the course is very ‘hands on’ so expective to get wet! Any theory will be short riverside sessions.
Course aims to:
- To improve individuals’ awareness of safety skills in the river environment.
- To teach personal survival skills.
- To teach throw line rescue techniques.
- To understand the need for structure in an emergency situation
- To outline basic rescue protocols that prioritise the safety of the individual above all others.
- To introduce & develop the ‘clean rope’ principle.
The Club encourages and recommends anyone wanting to paddle moderate to advanced white water to do a White-Water Safety Course especially if you are paddling grade 2 or above rivers.
There are a few Prerequisites due to the paddling environment and the boat control required the candidate should be:
- Confident in their ability to paddle on grade 2 water.
- Be confident swimming in normal canoe clothing suitable for a moving water environment.
