Race Report - 1st Road Event of 2024 - Cobo 10 Mile TT

Guernsey Velo Club LBG
3 Mar 2024

Marc Cox once again showed he's the man to beat at the first Guernsey Velo Club time trial of 2024, despite giving up an aero advantage by taking to his road bike, as more than a few entrants opted to forgo their time trial bikes in the cold, rain and wind that greeted riders on Sunday morning.

His relatively slow winning time of 21:54 highlighted the tough conditions on the day, as he pipped second placed Alex Van Katwyk by just 4 seconds over the ten-mile Cobo course.

The returning time trial specialist Aaron Bailey was more than happy to take third place with 22:31 in his first race back after a four-year break, whilst little over one second separated veterans Tony Bleasdale and Club President Alex Margison in fourth and fifth respectively.

Island Games mountain biker Jamy Petit-Fulgoni was first Lady in a time of 26:18, with newly crowned Ladies cyclocross champion Esther Reid second in 28:04 ahead of Serena Ace-Hopkins in third in 31:00.

There was a strong turnout amongst junior riders, with Ollie Duguid first Under-18 in 26:56, Seth Davey first Under-16 in 26:04, and Remi Le Compte first Under-14 in 30:53.
