Brilliant comback

Today’s game was one where we conceded more goals than usual, but it was nobody’s fault.

Our fantastic goalkeeper was unavailablethis match, so everyone had to take turns playing in goal. We all know how difficult it can be to play as a goalkeeper when it is not your usual position. On top of that, our formation had to change every few minutes, which naturally made things a little confusing for the players.

Today reminded all of us just how important our goalkeeper is and how much effort they put in for the team. We really appreciate everything goalkeeper does for the team.

Putting the goals we conceded aside, the way our players responded was fantastic. Despite going behind and conceding a lot of goals, they never gave up. They kept pushing, scored more goals and eventually completed a brilliant comeback.

The biggest positive today was our energy. We played with a higher energy level than the opposition, and everyone worked very hard to win the second balls. In front of goal, the players were also much more confident with their shooting. They did not hesitate, and those quick shots created goals and showed the difference that confidence can make in front of goal.

Today was a great reminder that you have to shoot if you want to score.

At half-time, we spoke about not worrying too much about the score and instead taking more shots whenever we had the opportunity. We also wanted to be ready for the rebounds and second balls from the goalkeeper. The players followed this plan really well.

As we scored one goal, then another, while we were still behind, the players started to regain their confidence, so we took control of the game and completed the comeback. The confidence, energy from the players showed today were amazing to see. It will be important for us to carry that confidence into our next games.
