Boys U15 (2011) Major 1 - Dunlavin
Football is hard. You try to teach the group the 'right way' to play football. Pass and move. Pass and move. Pass and move. It sounds easy. It's not. It's bloody ridiculously hard. It's a grind trying to get to that level. Sometimes, for 5 minutes, you reach that zenith and the play is glorious! Ping, ping, ping, cross, goal!
Not yesterday. Yesterday was a slog. A good team had the lads contained fairly comfortably. A heavy pitch had the lads tired. A cold wet day had the lads frustrated.
So they went back to the 90s. They don't know it but they brought the good old days of Irish football back for a half an hour. Long balls into the corner. Turn the opposition around. Put 'em under pressure.
The lads deserved a win. They got a draw. The lads deserve some luck. Spring is coming and that means change. Hopefully a change in our luck.
Best for Naas were the back 5 and the front 6 and the lads who came off the bench.
