Naas Play Well but Sallins Come Out on Top

The scoreline finished 4-0 to Sallins, but Naas produced plenty of positive football throughout the game.

Played under sunny skies with just a light breeze, both teams were supported by a strong crowd of parents, siblings, and supporters along the touchlines.

Sallins took an early lead through an unfortunate own goal from a corner before adding a second before half-time. Despite falling behind, Naas continued to play with confidence, looking to pass the ball and build attacks from the back.

Matthew, James, Alex S, Darragh P, Seb, and Eoghan linked up well throughout the game and produced several good passages of play. One move involving James, Alex S, and Darragh P highlighted the team's focus on playing football the right way.

At the back, Darragh O'T worked hard defensively, winning important headers and making key tackles. Jason also made an excellent tackle to prevent a clear scoring opportunity. Bobby showed great awareness in defence, reading the danger well and cutting out a threatening Sallins attack before it could develop.

Goalkeeper Evan made a number of great saves throughout the match, including an excellent diving stop to deny Sallins. He also communicated well with his defence, using his voice confidently to organise those in front of him and claim possession when needed.

The second half followed a similar pattern. Sallins took their chances when they came, adding two more goals, while Naas continued to create opportunities. James tested the Sallins goalkeeper on several occasions, Matthew forced a save, Conor went close, and a number of attacks came close to producing a goal.

Eoghan also impressed with a strong solo run, beating several Sallins players before driving forward.

There was a positive debut from newcomer Max, who made his first appearance for the team. He showed good skill and composure on the ball, with a strong first touch throughout.

A special mention goes to Alex K, who was named Man of the Match for his work rate, positive play, and contribution across the pitch.

Seb worked tirelessly in midfield, helping link defence and attack, while Conor made a strong impact when introduced and was unlucky not to find the net.

Sallins deserved credit for taking their chances, while Naas can take encouragement from many aspects of their performance, particularly their teamwork, effort, and commitment to playing football.
