Stockton Thunder v Nuneaton Borough Whites
Stockton Thunder U12 v Nuneaton Borough U12
Full Time: Stockton Thunder 0 – 9 Nuneaton Borough
Stockton Thunder faced a difficult fixture against a strong Nuneaton Borough side but showed plenty of determination and resilience throughout the match.
The game began with a moment of brilliance from Cai in goal. Inside the first minute he produced an incredible save, diving full stretch to his right to claw the ball around the post and keep Stockton level early on.
Stockton had to defend for long periods during the first half and did so with real effort. William was particularly busy, making numerous tackles and clearances to relieve the pressure. Yaz worked tirelessly at right back, often forcing Nuneaton attackers to cut inside rather than allowing crosses into the box. On the left side, Reuben read the game well, cutting out several passes, clearing to touch when needed and supporting Archie effectively on the flank.
Despite playing with a numerical disadvantage, Stockton still managed to create opportunities of their own. Much of the attacking threat came down the left-hand side, with Archie looking dangerous and Ethan making several runs in behind the defence. On a different day Stockton might have found the net, but a combination of last-ditch blocks, strong goalkeeping and the woodwork kept them from scoring.
In the second half, George was able to join the team, giving Stockton nine players and making the contest more even. The change had an immediate effect as Stockton enjoyed a strong spell during the opening ten minutes of the half. Mason began to see more of the ball in midfield and helped link play between defence and attack.
Cai continued to impress with several more excellent saves and also began distributing the ball confidently, helping to launch a number of Stockton attacks. Harry also grew in confidence as the game went on; every minute he plays is helping to build his fitness and sharpness.
Although the scoreline was tough, the team continued to work hard and show good spirit throughout the match.
