Boys U11's Lightning - Hurley Kings
Hurley Kings 3 v 0 Stockton Lightning U11s
A fair result, maybe a 3-1 or 3-2 would have been a fairer scoreline for our Sunday morning cup tie, near Atherstone.
It didn’t seem like Lightning did too much wrong, but lost out to stronger opposition on the day.
The old adage is that “it’s the same for both teams”, but it’s worth mentioning the pitch was difficult to play on, with the ball pinging in unpredictable angles.
If any criticism, maybe we were a touch off the pace first half, going in 1-0 down at the break. A change of formation loaded the midfield in the second, and we became more of a threat, creating chances, forcing saves and without the dreaded bobble would have had more shots on target. Yes our keeper had to make a couple of saves, but other than the goals, I didn’t feel we were massively threatened.
You can learn from losing games but not too much to learn today I don’t think, if we played the same team next week I’d fancy our chances, especially back at Stockton. Good effort and hard work unfortunately wasn’t enough today.
PPOTM ⚡️Jenson - Dependable defending and good movement forward with the ball
CPOTM ⚡️Julian - A hard game as a defender and ramped up a level as the game went on
