U10 Calcio Talent & Select - Leeds Riverside Elite U10
In our final game of seeding the boys showcased what is probably our most dominant and complete performance of the season, winning 10-1 vs Leeds Riverside Elite.
After what proved to be a fairly even start to the match, both sides battled for physical dominance and the ability to win duels on and off the ball. We surprisingly conceded on 8’ but our heads didn’t drop. The boys clapped in defiance and looked incredibly determined from the ensuing kick-off, really pleasing to see that confidence and togetherness. This felt like a springboard for what was to come, a performance that was never in doubt to the boys on the field. Players stepped up and carried the ball when needed and combined when they could, to get two goals back and close out the period 2-1 up.
We found another gear in the 2nd period, with relentless carries from the back to beat their press and create overloads for our forwards to exploit. And exploit they did, racking up 5 unanswered goals which completed both Freddie and Lewen’s hat tricks. Job done for Fred, he had a party to go to.
The final period saw us add three more goals, including a wonder goal from Oscar who found the top corner whilst having his teeth elbowed out at the same time. A quick slug of water and back on with the game. This epitomised a steely performance which was getting more and more physical as the opposition became frustrated with both the score, and their inability to compete man for man. A tough, professional performance from the lads to see us officially into division 1 for the next phase – well done boys, what a season so far.
MoM for me could’ve gone to anyone today, with most players having their best games of the season. However, with 3 goals and 3 assists and probably the most complete wing performance I’ve seen at this age, impossible to stop and impossible to beat, Lewen gets it for me.
