Cartha Vs Oban Lorne RFC

Oban Lorne ladies travelled away on Sunday 21st September to take on Cartha Queens Park 2nds at 2pm. Hungry for another convincing win Oban started the game strong.

Caitlin Fowler took the ball from the opening kick with a strong run forward and the same again from Lindsay MacMillan saw Oban then work the ball out to our amazing centre Poppy McKillop who weaved through and scored running.

full speed down the wing and nicely under the posts, Jordan MacIntyre successfully took the kick 0-7 Oban in the opening minute of the game. Oban retained possession again and scored after a Scrum, with the ball released out to Poppy again showing more amazing footwork and pace she broke the line to run home her second with the score now 0-12.

Scrum on half way secured the ball in the hands of Poppy who weaved through the defence avoiding numerous tackles she managed to offload allowing team mate Katie Hamilton playing at 10 to power over the line and score. Scoreline now sitting at 19-0.

Oban allowed mistakes to creep into play after a solid first 20 minutes so were defending more and having to regain possession more than needed.

Strong tackles and defence from flanker Jodi Millar and a ball stolen in ruck by Jordan MacIntyre and a

Katie MacKorkindale brilliant interception brought the first half to a close with no further points on the board.

Oban had a regroup and a chat at half time about what we were going to work on and started the second half strong again.

An Isla McGillvery pick up from a Cartha knock on, saw Oban power down the line with another ball in the hands of Poppy who ran home her third of the day, score, Jordan MacIntyre sent another kick over the posts with the score now 0-26

Oban found themselves in yet another Scrum, the ball was shipped to Katie Hamilton who offloaded off the ground to Poppy McKillop who worked more of her magical steps and scored under the posts. Jordan MacIntyre with another successful kick saw the score line now 0-33 to Oban.

Strong forward carry from Captain Julie with and offload to our number 9 Evie Kellet who out paced the defence and ran home a try out wide. The score now 0-38. Oban regained possession with a strong forward carry from Caitlin Fowler and a tip ball to Jordan MacIntyre saw her run home a try. a

Score now 0-43

A Driving line out, saw Jodi Millar take the ball blind side, good hands along to you guessed it our amazing 13 saw Poppy McKillop score her fifth try of the day! Another conversion over the posts for Jordan MacIntyre 0-50.

Oban line out, after great tackle from Katie Mackorkindale and good hands and a great line from Poppy McKillop saw her touch down her 6th try of the day and a successful conversion with Jordan 0-57.

Great defence in the last five minutes from Oban saw Cartha denied putting point on the board as Oban didn’t let them past with relentless defence. The final whistle blew and brought a close to a successful away game for Oban ladies. Oban Lorne players of the match Poppy McKillop and cartha player of the match Poppy McKillop.
