Boys U11 (2015) Green - Castle Villa
First game of the season and a dominant 6-3 win by the U11 Green team against a strong Castle Villa side. The score line was a lot closer to what it should have been, with Naas controlling much of the game from start to finish. Two goals from Caoimhin put Naas into a deserved 2-0 lead (with assists from Cody & Gavish), as they created numerous chances playing against a strong breeze. Castle Villa always looked dangerous on the break, and pulled a goal back when a deflected cross looped over Alex into the goal. But the heads didn't drop and the lads continued to put pressure, and made it 3-1 when Shuayb won the ball in midfield and played in Sean to put the ball in the back of the net.
With the winds in our backs, most of the second half was played in the Castle Villa half. Caoimhin netted his hat-trick to make it 4-1. Meron, Jack, Shuayb and Jacob kept things tight at the back, and when Castle Villa created some chances, Alex was there to make some important saves. With shots reigning in on the Castle Villa goal, and one of Meron's shots testing the strength of the crossbar, the score somehow stayed at 4-1.
With about 8 minutes to go, Castle Villa pulled back 2 goals in 3 minutes to leave the final 5 minutes a lot more tense than what they should have been. But Cody, Sean and Gavish took control of the midfield again, and Caoimihin finished off a great day with 2 more goals to make the final score 6-3.
A great result to start the season, but the way the lads passed the ball around and worked together as a team was the most pleasing part for the coaches.
