HOME vs Kildare Town Black. Kick-off 10am and meet up 9:15am

Naas Blue 3–2 Kildare

What a comeback and a fantastic team performance from Naas Blue today on our home ground!

Kildare started strongly, taking the lead inside the first 10 minutes when their number 6 broke through our back four to find the net. Shortly afterwards, they doubled their advantage in a similar fashion, leaving us with a mountain to climb.

However, credit to the lads, we kept our composure, continued to work as a team and fought our way back into the game.

Our first goal came from a penalty around the 15-minute mark, giving us the confidence to push forward. Not long after, we capitalised on a goal kick, with our striker reacting quickly to the opportunity and putting the ball into the back of the net to level the score at 2–2.

From that point onwards, Naas took control of the game. We dominated the midfield, worked hard to win possession and created several opportunities, although a number of our shots went wide.

The biggest positive today was our second-half performance. For the first time this season, we won the second half! This is a fantastic achievement for the lads, particularly as we have struggled in previous matches to maintain our composure, intensity and pace throughout the game.

Our third goal came from some excellent team play, completing a brilliant comeback and securing a well-deserved 3–2 home victory.

Full-time: Naas Blue 3–2 Kildare.

Overall, a fantastic team effort and a real demonstration of how much this group is improving. Coming back from two goals down shows character, determination and a growing belief in ourselves.

🏆 Player of the Match – Cian

Cian gets Player of the Match today for scoring two goals and playing a key role in leading our attack. His movement, determination and contribution going forward were excellent throughout the game. Well deserved!

A final word on sportsmanship

Today's match was emotionally charged, with a number of decisions that may have been open to debate. However, regardless of what happens on the pitch, it is important that we, as Naas AFC, lead by example.

We represent not only ourselves and our teammates but also our club. Respect for the opposition, match officials and everyone involved in the game must always come first.

We can be competitive, passionate and determined to win while still conducting ourselves in the best possible manner. This is the standard we want to set for our players and everyone representing Naas AFC.

A brilliant comeback, a fantastic second-half performance and another big step forward for the team. Well done, lads! 🔵⚪
