Boys U16 (2010) Premier - Newbridge Utd
A tricky away cup tie against another Prem team in Newbridge Utd.
When Naas play well we look a very good side, and for large portions of the game, we played extremely well.
In truth we missed about a dozen sitters and if we finished the game with double figures it would not have been a surprise.
Roddy Cummins upened the scoring after 10 minutes with a class finish, following good work by Ned Keogh.
Ned then got in on the scoring after 25 minutes from a ball from Jamie Byrnes.
2-0 at the break which flattered Newbridge.
5 minutes into the second, the third arrived. Following quick thinking from Jack O Brien, played a quick corner to Conor Murtagh, Conor whipped the ball near post and decieved the keeper, expecting a cross, to make it 3-0.
The game went flat for the next 10 minutes, and Newbridge got one back from a good header.
Naas upped the tempo and started to play some lovely football and pull Newbridge players all over the pitch.
Before the 4th, Evan Moriarty, Jack, Aaron and Sean Stafford all missed chances.
Aaron and Jack were starting to run the Newbridge defence ragged with their pace and power. The two lads combined with Aaron coming in off the left, beat a couple of defenders, and squared to Jack, who made no mistake for 4.
The 5th arrived soon after when Sean Stafford played Jack in who cooly finished for his second of the night.
Naas went close to 6 and 7, with Aaron rattling the post and Evan Moriarty going close from a free kick.
Newbridge got a dubious last minute penalty, which beat Alec Walsh, who was very assured in nets.
From Alec in nets, Dan Oke, who was different class as skipper for the night, Cormac, Fred, Matthew and Evan Malone were excellent at the back.
Midfield of Jamie, Sean and Evan were on top from minute one. Conor was direct and strong on one wing and complelimented Roddy on the other, who has a box of tricks in the locker.
Front 3 of Ned, Jack and Aaron tormented the Newbridge defence.
Roll on the next round, and on this form no one will want to draw us!!!!
