Kineton (pre-season friendly)
The 2026 season kicked off as Norton Lindsey and Wolverton welcomed Kineton to Wolverton Road for a friendly on Saturday afternoon. A late change of opposition saw Norton facing a team from the the Cotswold Hills Premier Division, rather than a gentle village knockabout against neighbours Rowington.
Mixed availability and late dropouts saw the hosts field a number of 2nd team players in what would be a challenging fixture.
Kineton batted first, with Qureshi (98) and Cooper (62) producing a 160-run stand for the third wicket, benefiting from a number of dropped catches. Dawber (20no) and Lloyd (32no) took the score to 246 at the break, which provided players with the opportunity to reacquaint themselves with Norton's legendary teas!
Kineton would have felt confident containing the reply, opening with their League bowlers. However, Simba Mudimu (99) and Toby White (21) had other ideas, going on the attack immediately, and putting on 87 for the first wicket.
First teamers Tom Wilcox (24) and Mark Reading (12no) tried to keep the score moving, but the match meandered to a close at 195-7 giving Kineton the win.
