U8 Calcio Select - Opponent

A tough result today against an incredibly strong Yorkshire Ammers side, as we fell to an 18-6 defeat.

Unfortunately, in all three thirds we fell behind to very quick goals, but in each one we kept going and played some good football at times.

In the first third, the highlight was the great pass into Grayson to score his first goal of the season, while Will, who started in net, made some great saves.

In the second third, the boys showed great heart to keep going. Robin made some fantastic saves, and sprayed the ball out from the back. Ted and Martin showed great bravery in battling against players much bigger than they are. Theo played in Will to score his first goal of the game.

In the final third, we again fell behind quickly, but battled back and ended the game very strongly. Luca, who showed excellent work rate and intelligence throughout the game, picked up players very effectively, and showed great feet to take on players and pass to team mates. Will closed out the game with his second goal, but also provided some excellent goal line clearances. Robin won and fired in a penalty, then scored a second, this time set up by Theo; Theo also scored, for his fourth goal of the season so far. In net, Martin made some fantastic saves.

All in all, a tough game against strong opposition, but plenty of positives to take going into next week's game against a different Yorkshire Ammers team.
