U11 Orange - Christ the King
Leamington FC U11 Orange 1-1 Christ the King Juniors U11 (2-3 after penalties)
A tense match that was really even in the first half, Leamington Brakes kept a good shape and competed well.
In the 2nd half, playing down the slope and with the wind behind us, the lads started to get on top. With better passing and good pressing, the Brakes started winning corners and creating opportunities. The pressure finally told when a hand ball resulted in a penalty from a corner. Fin G stepped up with composure and slotted in the penalty. Brakes couldn’t hang on for the win though as Christ the King pushed forward and caught the Brakes out on the break to equalise.
The match finished 1-1, with a penalty shootout to decide the winners.
Teddy made 2 fantastic saves in the shootout, with both Fin G and Sam scoring penalties. Christ the King came out on top to with the shootout 3-2.
A fantastic game played in good spirit, I thought Christ the King were good sports 👏
Special mentions:
Teddy was fantastic in goal today, commanded his box, made saves and his kicking was superb. He made 2 great saves in the shootout as well. He stepped forward to take on the role today and so deserves a special mention 👏
Sam had an outstanding game today, literally nothing got past him in defence. He made vital interceptions all game, often followed by a bit of skill to get away from the opposition player. His range of passing was superb today…. Sam is our deserved POTM, well done 👏
Really proud of all the lads today, you worked hard and were unlucky. One of the best matches we’ve played. Keep your heads up 💛🖤
