Boys U11 (2015) Blue - Newbridge United
A cool, overcast evening set the scene for a dominant home team performance against newly promoted Newbridge United, whose strong showings since U9 season had earned them rapid progression through the divisions. However, they were missing three of their better players so we can expect a stronger showing from them in the return fixture.
With a slight breeze at their backs, the home side started sharply and raced into a 5–0 lead inside the opening period. The early goals came through quick, incisive passing and good movement, with Faniel spectacularly opening the scoring from a Rory cross before Seb took control, netting four times in quick succession — three of them assisted by Finn, Charlie, and Freddie. The intensity dropped slightly after the early burst, allowing Newbridge to settle and see out the remainder of the half without further damage.
Newbridge began the second half with more purpose and were rewarded when a second ball from a corner wasn’t adequately cleared, allowing their striker to react quickest and pull one back from short range. However, the Naas response was immediate. Seb completed a remarkable seven-goal haul, with further assists coming from Michael, Faniel, and Patrick, while Oisin and Charlie also added well-taken goals to round off a 10–1 win.
A particularly pleasing aspect of the win was the spread of creativity - seven different players contributing assists, highlighting the team’s growing cohesion and willingness to share the ball. The passing combinations and movement were a standout feature throughout.
While tougher tests lie ahead, this was a complete and confident performance that reflects the progress being made as a group.
Well done lads - enjoy a well earned weekend off!
