Boys U16 (2010) Premier - Kilcullen

A very hard match report to write but every team will have a day like yesterday.
Shock, disbelief are the words which come to mind.
Never did we think the current champions and title rivals would dish out a 5-0 defeat to our lads.
After an excellent pre season and the squad significantly strengthen, we went in with high hopes!!!
Kilcullen have quickly brought us crashing down to earth.
Despite the scoreline there was very little between the teams, with both sides shadow boxing for the first 20, with both defences on top, and chances at a premium.
Naas were denied a stone wall penalty after Aaron was upended by a combination of goalie and centre half. Tackles were flying in from both sides, with yellow cards dished put to both teams. Kilcullen were extremely lucky to not have a straight red for a horrendous tackle on Matthew McCarthy, which saw Matthew have to leave the pitch.
Naas started to drop off and become passive off the ball, which resulted in 2 goals for Kilcullen from both coming from a long pass, and 2 shots from outside the box.
Naas re shuffled to a 4-4-2 at the half and started the brighter of the two, without creating clear cut chances. Kilcullen back 3 got a leg, head, body in the way.
Naas then gifted third and fourth goals to Kilcullen and the game was done. To add insult they added a fifth before the end.
