Boys U12 (2014) Prem - AC Celtic AFC
match report to follow!
It was a cracking contest in Athlone as Naas AFC’s 2014 Premier Team faced a strong AC Celtic side.
Both teams were well-matched from the start, with plenty of energy and commitment on display.
Naas took a few minutes to find their rhythm in the first half, as AC Celtic pressed high and looked dangerous on the counter.
Once we settled, the game opened up, with chances at both ends and some great defensive work to keep things level going into half time.
The second half saw the boys come out stronger, playing with real intent and composure — but AC Celtic matched them stride for stride.
With ten minutes to go, the breakthrough finally came: Daragh made a great run into the box and was brought down.
He stepped up himself and buried the resulting penalty with confidence to put Naas 1–0 ahead.
The final minutes were tense, but Naas defended superbly, staying organised and determined right to the final whistle.
A hard-fought and well-earned win on the road!
The boys put their hands in before the match and said let's do it for Willie!
So that win was for you - Dylans Great Uncle Willie! 💙💪🏼⚽️🎊👊
Thank you to our parents as always for travelling and were a great support today.
Thank you to Josh, the soccer coach from the UK who came over in Feb who sent a great message to Denise for the boys to watch before the match today.
