Boys U9's - Hillmorton U9's

This away fixture on astro turf was by far the most mentally challenging for the boys. Typical English weather with sun, rain,  sleet, with a freezing cold wind at times.

First half playing conditions were perfect with Stockton dominating most of the half. A solid defensive performance at the back with positive running going forward. Jenson was the first to take advantage of our good play with a fine strike from outside the penalty area. This was soon followed by Ethan taking on three players to slot the ball in the back of the net. George was a constant threat throughout, if he didn't hit the post the opposition keeper made a good save!

The second half was completely different as the wind and rain got worse and both teams were feeling this. Hillmorton scored twice with one of their goals coming from some good football between them. 

The game become very open in the closing stages. All the players were feeling the effects of the weather. The game could have gone either way, but Stocktons attitude and focus led to George finally getting the goal he deserved in the game.

Challenging  conditions throughout, but the boys showed great mental resilience as they continued to give 100% for each other.

Player of the match - Dom.  Anther solid defensive performance. For someone who has never played before, he continues to grow stronger each game.

Parents player of the match - George. Could have got 6, got the winner, never stopped running causing a constant threat to the opposition defence.
