U9s Azzuri lost 4-2 to 4G1 Blue

Gutted for the boys, as I thought we could of nicked a draw. As a team, I thought we competed well against a very good/ physical side. We really struggled in the 1st third creating chances, but this meant we did have a lot of opportunities to defend the goal, which did well at times but rode our luck a little bit too. We went 2-0 down, but the boys kept pushing forward and creating chances against their very big goalkeeper; who was saving everything of ours at times with such ease. We were 3-0 down going into the last third.

But, after speaking to the lads I saw a great reaction, as we got better as the game went on. In both the 2nd & 3rd half in particular, controlling the last third and it felt like attack vs defence. With us constantly pushing forwards. We get 2 goals back. Pushing for the equaliser and get caught on the break to concede a 4th.

Overall, proud of the team’s performance, effort and bravery on the ball. Especially in a really tense and physical game. Which competitive games like these are great for our players’ development 🙌
