Home Game v Castlevilla

After all the excitement of last weekends victory in Kilcullen today was one our lads will take the learnings from and respond.

Naas were slow to settle in the opening 10 minutes and were caught when a mix up in communication at the back allowed Castle Villa in to open the scoring

For the next 15 minutes Naas responded really well with Jamie Byrnes and Fabio Kolakowski coming to terms with a strong Villa midfield.

Naas created two really good openings for Dara o Shea and Conor Gillespie with the chances falling on the lads improving foot and they were unable to finish.

Totally against the run of play Naas were caught again and despite an incredible goal line clearance from Tyler Gleeson which really deserved a better outcome but unfortunately Castle Villa were quicker to respond to take a 2-0 lead as Half Time approached

For the first 15 minutes of the 2nd half Naas laid seige on the Castle Villa goal with clear openings narrowly missed by Dara o Shea (2) and Jayden o Sullivan which on another day would have rattled the net

Once again totally against the run of play a 3rd goal was conceded. This time a ball over the top was played to a Castle Villa player who had strayed offside by a considerable margin which was a very tough call on the team to take as the score went to 3-0

The team were quickly back attacking and a good team move lead to Sean Cooke playing a nice pass to Conor Gillespie who found the corner of the net with a tidy left foot finish with 15 minutes remaining.

At this point there was still a feeling there may be something in the game for Naas but very quickly our hopes were dashed when a free kick from the left wing was met with a strong header from the Castle Villa striker to make it 4-1 which would end up the full time score

A tough scorline in a match where Naas played the majority of the good football. The team will take the learnings and no doubt bounce back to what has otherwise been a very positive start to the league campaign

A special mention for Danny Diver who had a very good match as stand in goalkeeper today and was no way at fault on any of the goals conceded

We move on with a home fixture at 10am against Moone in the SFAI Cup next weekend

Best for Naas today were

Tyler Gleeson, Jayden o Sullivan, Senan Browne, Sean Cooke and Conor Gillespie
