Boys U15 (2011) Major 2 Blue - Naas AFC White
A home derby win for the lads against the Naas AFC White team, sees our unbeaten streak continue, and maintaining top of the league spot.
It was a tight game not highlighted by the 4:1 score line, and both teams performed well. The first half saw Fionn score after 2 minutes with a great ball fed through from Niko. It was a tight game for the next 15 minutes with a well taken free kick from Niko saved by the Whites keeper (Luke), one of many great saves. And Sam made a great save for us the other end, keeping it tight with 10 minutes remaining in the half. Nathanem came off the bench and just before half time, he makes an impact by scoring a great goal leaving us 2:0 at half time.
The second half kicked off and within a minute Freddie scores with a great ball fed through from Scott, and again it remained tight for the next 15 minutes with Niko having a free kick saved by Luke, and as with the first half, Sam makes a great save the other end for us within a minute! However, a well taken free kick from the Whites saw a goal going in, and it was 3:1. The Whites kept the pressure on and were unlucky on a couple of occasions not to score.
With two minutes to go Jack fed a ball through to Zsombor, who went on a solo run resulting in a well earned goal! The final score 4:1.
Derby games are always a challenge with both teams knowing each other well. It was played in good spirits, from both sides and that resulted in a great game of football.
Our Naas AFC White team played really well, and should be proud of their performance. We watch the team train every week and as a coaching group we respect them a lot, and their efforts in training are building performance, we see it, and they are a team to be feared by all. We wish them well until we play again later in the season!
For our lads, we move forward to the next away game against Rathangan. Heads held high as their efforts in training continue to reward them on Saturday. We maintain top spot in the league, and we continue to focus one game at a time.
Enjoy the bank holiday!
