S&L Juniors U11 Whites - Staines & Laleham U11 Blues
Home match on a fine autumn day against the Blues. Remembrance Sunday 2 mins silence observed so respectfully, and combined with the oppo. It was a great moment and I captured by photo.
Well done Whites! You all worked so hard. The match result did not reflect how well we played. There were chances at both ends. For long periods the game was evenly matched.
We tried some players in different positions and they did very well. We were mindful of their strikers and how fast they break, we tried to match this pace. They only got through a few times, and were clinical with shots. Two of their goals then came from mistakes, a loose ball in the box and a slip.
All their goals came at the end of the halves. Probably due to us getting tired.
Passing moves could have been a bit more effective. Keeping alongside team mates at a good passing distance gives options, sometimes these off the ball runs are slightly behind. For the player on the ball it's very hard to see options if this happens.
We also do need to take more chances on loose balls and not just give them up for the oppo. Pressure and a knock on with a hip or something gives us extra runs at their goal.
Some back turning on tackles, but far less than last week.
Toby did well in goal. Kicks were rarely intercepted, some were. If we can get these to team mates consistently for possession it'll give oppo far less chances and make our defensive jobs much easier!
Defence and CDM - GREAT job today. The right balance of contact and great shape. Leo demonstrated this perfectly earning him the player of the match - well done! Many others were so close to this.
It's great to see us having fun playing football regardless of the result. This is one of our best traits. Your a great team together with lots of respect for each other.
Very winnable game next week, so we march on and keep our head up. Well done all.
