Girls U10's Lionesses - Upper Lighthorne
The girls were determined to get a result today, I gave them the task of getting a draw as we only just missed out on a draw when we played Upper Lighthorne a few weeks ago.
The girls went out wanting that result, we battled and dominated in the first playing most of the football in their half and rarely letting them into our half. Amelia got a goal and the girls boosted from there. Grace B made some great saves in the first half keeping us ahead. Charlotte and Amelia worked well together and Amelia scored another goal. The girls held their defence amazingly with 'little' Grace taking the lead and holding back.
We went into the second half 2-0 up and the girls wanted this game.
Unfortunately UL also came into the second half wanting to get back into the game and quickly scored a goal. Our centre kick resulted in Amelia scoring a goal too. Their centre kick then also lead to a goal making it 3-2 to us. The girls battled and battled, we had chances in their box that we just couldnt get into the net and Darcey in goal made some absolutely amazing saves diving onto the ball and coming off her line with confidence which kept us in the game. However they managed to break through and level the score. They then got another goal pushing themselves in front. The girls weren't happy and rushed the ball into their half after some brilliant battling from everyone Charlotte found the ball at her feet and got it in the back of the net, her first goal this season that she's been so desperate to get. This got us back in the game making it 4-4
Stood on the sideline at this point was very stressful, the girls battled and battled with only 5 minutes left UL broke through and scored again. The girls knew it wasn't over yet and they pushed into the other half and Charlotte got a second goal in the same game!! Making it 5-5 the last 2 minutes were constant battling and us coaches standing waiting for the second that final whistle blew. The whistle finally went and the girls had done it they'd got a score that reflected their efforts and performance
MPOTM - Charlotte for her battling and finally getting that goal
PPOTM - Eva for her battling and running up the wing
